St Patrick's and Hinton were blessed when the Sisters of St. Joseph of
Wheeling were permanently assigned here and to the Alderson Reformatory for
Women due to efforts of Fr. Thomas Kerrigan and Fr. Paul Hickey. The
Sister's intellectual, psychological, and emotional concentration and
energies are equally divided between two entirely different fields of work
and kinds of people. Different though these two worlds are, the Sisters'
function in both places in fundamentally the same that of pastoral
assistants. In this position their basic role is to show Christian care and
concern, and to try to respond to any and all needs of those whom they
serve.
The Sisters served the area on a commuter basis for three or four years
before they were assigned here permanently. They now reside on Jams Street,
within easy reach of any of the parishioners who need them.

Covering the span of one hundred years of service, we find many priests
of varied backgrounds and beginnings. Their physical features and individual
personalities are also different.
However, the differences stop there and the similarities begin.
All had a great love for their God and a desire to share this feeling with
all the peoples of the earth.
When one takes into account that the birthplaces of the priests consists of
Holland, Scotland, Ireland, France, and many scattered places in the United
States and the state of West Virginia, then truly they have delivered His
message "...to the ends of the world."
